Thank God for Obama
I don't really believe in a god who dictates our actions, however, if the Democrats had been fielding an older, more establishment candidate right now, one whom some people believed shared the blame for the current economic meltdown (even in a peripheral sense), this election would be a lot more complicated, since the Republicans love to point fingers....right before they exclaim "We shouldn't be pointing fingers in a time of national crisis" (this whenever anyone talks about Rick Davis's $15,000/month from Freddie or McCain's ties to Phil Gramm).

Obama's unfailing calm demeanor, which is a negative in good times since it strikes many in the electorate as aloof, is a plus right now, when it becomes "reassuring". And his braininess is also a positive when "it's the economy, stupid".

So, in case God, Buddha, Krishna, Athena, Coyote or some other deity had a hand in making Obama the nominee, thanks.

Happy Days Are Here Again!

1. I could not possibly agree more.
We are so lucky to have him as our candidate.

3. People who know who they are, are serene
It's disconcerting to the re-actors.

How can someone exist in this western world, and not be thrown by the winds of change?

Me, I celebrate this quality in Obama, and think it is precisely what our country, and our planet, needs now.

Sometimes, the universe delivers what we need, if we are awake to it.

I, too, am grateful.

4. Thank Loki, too, because he sure does have a sense of humor.
He gave us 2 repuke candidates that we could laugh AT even when we're pissed off at them.

5. Obama's "unfailing calm demeanor" was never a negative.

Clinton and the GOP attacked him on it (kinda like you are here calling it a "negative") because it is his STRENGTH!

6. Anything is a negative, unfortunately, if it costs the Dem candidate votes even brains.
Just ask Al Gore, the man who was too smart to be president. History is going to judge the 2000 election as the most ridiculous thing America ever did. What kind of dumb ass electorate chooses a candidate because they want to have a beer with him? A lazy, complacent, pampered electorate which does not appreciate the fact that a lot of Americans live in poverty and most people in the world live in war, squalor and misery.

7. anti-intellectualism is alive and well in America
McBush is damn proud of being 5th from the bottom of his class of almost 900, and Palin brags about getting Ds in college. America on its knees I think is the wake-up call that will lead to choosing the smart guy this go. The alternative is insanity so pervasive it is discernible from outer space and IMO will permeate a sufficient number of thick skulls.

"You can't keep playing the same Washington games with the same Washington players and expect a different result."

Sadly.

9. "Deal or No Deal" is proof-positive of that.
The national IQ has dropped so low, players now are only capable of pointing and yelling "I want that one."
