1. The October surprise will come in the mail
In a couple of weeks, people will be receiving their 401K and IRA statements. A lot will be very angry and want to know who is going to bail them out, make them whole. No bailout should be considered until after the election. This anger needs to be directed where it belongs - at Bush, McCain, Gramm, all of the de-regulatory ideologues who caused this mess.

3. So you think they might channel that anger against McCain in the polling booth? I think that relies
on having an informed voter and knowing about McCain the Super Deregulator and his Keating 5 ties. Not sure I trust much of the media to bring that stuff up.

6. I think they will channel their anger at the nearest target
nearest in the temporal sense. If the bailout passes and is perceived as being a Democratic proposal, the anger will go towards them. It doesn't matter what the bill actually says if the "bailout" tag sticks. The Democrats may try to explain why the bailout was necessary, but as we all know: "If you are explaining, you are losing."

16. No I think the Wall Street melt down came early. I figure they
where hoping to dump this mess after the election. I don't see what they had to gain by this.
