3. It varies from state to state
Some let you register on election day, some don't allow new registrations within a month of the election.

11. Wisconsin
just to clarify (and I'm sure there are a lot - like 50 - clarifications, but what the heck)

In Wisconsin, October 15 (at 5:00 p.m.) Last day (5:00 p.m.) for electors to register by mail to vote in General Election (except for registration in the municipal clerk's office and at polls). This includes the registrations that are being done by the special registration deputies.

You can register in your Clerk's office all the way up through 5:00 p.m. on November 3

NOVEMBER 3, Last day (5:00 p.m.) for electors who have not previously registered to vote at the General Election to register in the municipal clerk's office.

Also, NOVEMBER 3, Last day (5:00 p.m.) for electors to make application in person to the municipal clerk for absentee ballots to vote in the General Election (except hospitalized electors, sequestered jurors and military electors on active duty away from their residence).

Then, of course, we have registration at the polls (whether or not that is the Clerk's office, as well) on election day.

Thanks for posting that list - it will get people sharpened up!

:hi: and WI residents, please check your registration status NOW at http://vpa.wi.gov/ If you're not listed, you're not registered, no matter how long you've been voting there!!!
