Crisis looming, Shuster cancels mid-October debateBy Alex Roarty
Category: HouseTags: Tony Barr, PA-9, Bill Shuster
U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) is declining an invitation to debate his opponent, Democrat Tony Barr, on Oct. 12 because of the country's financial crisis, The Associated Press reports.

A spokesman for Shuster told the AP the debate might be rescheduled after the country emerges from the financial crisis.

_____________________________________________

BTW, Bill Shuster is the son of Bud Shuster, who was exposed by 60-minutes with corrupt ties to Lobbyists and resigned from his house seat only to be replaced by his son Bill. Unfortunately this district is pretty conservative but still no excuse for a debate. PA-9 is not that far from Washington DC.

6. of course not... They know that the backlash from NOT debating...
will not be nearly as bad as having the debate. They are cowards who don't want to have to defend their records.

4. I hope the Dems being stood up will go to the debate and make a speech about American history and
how the debate process is an important part of our national heritage and how the voters are being robbed by fascist republicans.

16. You know thisis a strong republican district but then again so is PA-10
and in 2006 we took over that district - perhaps we can help out with PA-09 a bit too

This is the guy running against Shuster. I might drop him a 10-spot for his campaign.
