Let me tell you how George Bush almost got me arrested
today. I am on my way back from a sumptuous Dubyah economy lunch off the Wendy’s value menu. A car is stalled in the left turn lane I need to use to get back to work. I get around it just as a bunch of squad cars pull up and block off the street. I and a woman motorist get out of our cars, she to tell the cop about the motorist in distress, me to ask what the fuck is going on. We are gruffly ordered to get back in our cars. Then an ambulance and a fire engine came through with red lights and sirens, apparently unrelated to the main business at hand. Then it dawns on me that the Obama motorcade must be coming through on its way to the Clearwater/St. Petersburg airport. So I get out of the car, take the Obama magnet off the trunk and hold it up as the motorcade roars past. The cop yells at me again to get back in my car. Then, instead of getting his car out of the way he walks back to my car and tells me “Next time I tell you to get in your car, you stay there!” I just wonder if I would have been treated the same officious way if I had been holding a McCain sign. I was about to debate the cop’s authority to order me around like that and tell him what I thought of his fascist bullshit, but I needed to get back to work. This is Bush’s fault because of the command performance photo op at the White House-otherwise none of this would have happened.

1. Actually you probably would...
Police get assigned traffic control for VIPs (expecially in Washington) and don't want any extra problems.

2. How dare you not cower before the SS.
Off to the concentration camps with you!

Which towns cops was it? Or Pinellas deputies?

3. Damn, Bob, you got lucky.
Police can get really prickly when there is a major motorcade passing through.

Did you get back in your car when he came back and said that?

6. I was back in my car before he came over. He just wanted to be
a prick.

8. Well, they weren't telling the people on the street to go back
home.

10. Not to apologize for the cops, but...
there are last-second briefings on these type of events.

If they are told to keep all drivers in their cars, that's what they're gonna do.

But you're right. If LittleMan hadn't pulled his little stunt, that wouldn't have happened to you.

Reading your post, I could just see you running to the back of your car to get your 'sticker/magnet.

I got a real kick out of that.

Tom

4. So in other words...
police frantically trying to secure the area for a presidential candidate is Bush's fault? Your post makes absolutely no sense.

9. I should add that almost everything is Bush's fault, e.g., the
Edwards affair. If Bush hadn't stolen the 2004 Election John Edwards would have been too busy being Vice-President to be meeting women in bars

11. Wouldn't it be great if God equipt police officers with shock collars
and every time they act like jackasses he would press the button and we could laugh at them.

13. What's ironic is that if he had just said the motorcade was coming
through he certainly would have gotten my 100% cooperation. I could just as easily waved the Obama magnet out the window.

15. I am too. If the officer had said the motorcade was coming
through I would have sat in my car and waved. Instead he acted like an obnoxious officious fascist asshole. The woman in the car in front of me was really pissed at his attitude and said so in no uncertain terms.
