I don't mean to belabor the point but Sarah Palin is a very stupid woman. |
|
one trite comment after another. she's completely inarticulate. If she's ever had an original thought I'd be shocked. It says a lot that someone like her can be taken seriously- in Alaska or on a national level.

She never seems to have a clue what she's talking about. She just strings words together in a seemingly random fashion, rendering everything that comes out of her mouth incomprehensible.

19. Belabor it all you want! My town has a population of over 50,000 and our Town Supervisor |
|
(equiv to Mayor) is an exceptionally INTELLIGENT Democratic woman, who is head and shoulders above Palin. She's been in that position for 21 years now. If Palin ran for a position in our town government, she wouldn't even be voted in as the animal control officer.

22. This is where our (increasing) disdain for education has landed us |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 06:50 PM by nam78_two
I am 30 and as long as I have been following politics (9-10 years now-post Gingrich revolution :puke:), all I can remember is this (constantly increasing) disdain for any sign of intelligence or knowledge in our leaders and attempts to tie that disdain to the most fake kind of "populism" I have ever seen.
This is so toxic for us. I have often wanted to ask older DUers when exactly this started being a fixture on the right side of the aisle? It can't always have been this bad? I compare some of the older conservatives to the newer lot and the difference is so patent. Even their pundits-I don't care for George Will, Bill Buckley, William Saffire etc. but I could at least read their stuff without being horrified at the thought that such ignorant yet wily charlatans are controlling the political discourse on that side. But the newer lot-Hannitty, O'Reilly, Beck..these people hold up stupidity, avarice, ignorance and close-mindedness as qualities to aspire to.
It is just TOXIC.

26. Agree. I don't care much for Will, Buckley, and Safire, but . . . |
|
. . . these are literate and well-spoken individuals.
And they don't resort to nasty nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah name calling (e.g., FemiNazis).
This is where political discourse has gone. Dumbed down, like everything else.

27. It started with Reagan |
|
He was all sound-bites, personal charm, and appearance.
Reagan was like Bill Starbuck from "The Rainmaker." He made a lot of people feel good and took their money even though he never actually did what he promised.
