Another Gem From Couric's Palin Interview
Posted by Ashish on 09.25.2008

Too good to pass up...

Ok, I'm sorry to keep posting these clips, but it is stunning the types of answers a Vice Presidential candidate is giving to basic questions. Video below.

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? ... Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it's got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.

If you don't understand Palin's answer, it's because it makes no sense at all. She just threw "health care reform" and "jobs" and "tax reductions" into one big mess of a statement that makes no sense at all. Reducing taxes has to accompany tax reductions? I'm not sure if she is aware of this, but reducing taxes and tax reductions are the same thing. They can't accompany each other. And this isn't the only cringe-moment from today's edition of Couric's interview with Palin. There is another clip where she once again bases her foreign policy credentials on Alaska being close to Russia, but I'll leave that one alone for now.

2. She is just talk radio in human form
she just reads off the touchstone words and that is all that people, their people, hear

She on the Mayoral race by making it about abortion and guns (RNC playbook) and got massive support from the fundie churches in the area. The race for Mayor (any race for Mayor) is usually about having cops, fire dept., keeping the school roof from collapsing, and such. Her opponent had no idea what she was talking about and finally had to say that SHE was mostly pro-choice. Her answer about not knowing what that could possibly have to do with being Mayor of Wasilla was washed out in and never re-heard.
