1. He did however, win the "Miss Must Be Insane" award

just for entering a beauty contest at 72. His eyeshadow was a bit heavy.

2. It may have been obvious, but for me that debate illuminated his two lines of campaigning

One, on foreign policy, he emphasizes experience.

The other, on domestic issues, he emphasizes the maverick. This way he can get Palin under this umbrella - even he cannot expect all of us to look at her as "experienced," but can present her as a maverick and also to distance himself from Bush and the Republican party that most voters have had enough of.

3. I'll bet that McContemptuous makes fun of Sarah Palin in private

He praises her to the heights in public because he has no choice. But I'll bet he makes fun of her and her beauty queen past, probably even calling her "Miss Congeniality" and saying that he's no Miss Congeniality. He's probably done it so often that he forgets about it when he's in public. I'll bet McCain doesn't even think Palin belongs in the same room, when he's conferring with his consultants. McCain didn't want Palin but she was forced upon him by Rove and Limbaugh.
