6. I would still like to see Phoenix in either 2012 or 2016
If we weren't running against this asshole this year Arizona would be a battleground state.

16. It's a battleground state as far as a lot of us here are concerned, LOL.
We're fighting hard to take the state away from McCain - or at least not make it a cakewalk.

Phoenix was going to be my choice for the 2012 convention.

Indianapolis would also be a good choice, and for history's sake, Baltimore would be worth a look too.

a damn fine convention town in the summer. Close to important states to the Dems as the populations grow out here, including AZ, OR, WA, NM, NV, CO et al. If the Dems lock up the west the way the R's have the deep south, it'll be a voting bloc that keeps on growing for years to come.

...and the acceptance speech can be given either at our wonderful new, soon-to-be-built stadium for the college world series, or (withthe permission of the University) be given down the freeway in Lincon at Memorial Stadium (whete the 'Huskers play) in front of about 80,000.

The River City area has a wonderful restaurant and arts scene in Omaha's Old Market, legal gaming across the river in Council Bluffs, some fantastic museums, and overall a city that is the best kept secret in America.

25. We gotta put some states back in play
I think KC or St. Louis would help, as well as anywhere in Ohio, Michigan, and Florida. It would be great to host it in a Blue state and get a crazy reception, but we need to focus on changing the map.

Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 09:52 PM by jbuzz
It's the fastest-growing city in the US, in a swing state that
will have 6 EC votes in 2012, and could help the Dems make
inroads into the Southwest. Finding a venue and hotel space
will be no problem. Plus plenty of after-hours fun!

Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 09:38 PM by darius15
I think we can turn Texas Democratic in the next election. There are many Hispanics, and more AA's now.

The only problem right now is that Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are either leaning Republican or 50\50. The big cities there aren't liberal (except Austin, and that isn't very large compared to the other 3).

NY and CA will go Repub before TX goes Dem, with the Bushes, the oil industry, the fundies, and the cowboy types. Hell, with the possible exceptions of Idaho and Utah, it would be the last state to go blue.

San Antonio, however, is an interesting possibility. It's largely Hispanic, and could help pull the Hispanic vote in other states. It's also in the most Democratic part of Texas.

If the Dems ever pick Texas, it will most likely be San Antonio, possibly Houston.
