The fact that she did some of the lines verbatim was killin' me... you cannot even write anything funnier than what she actually said!!!
I just watched it in our employee breakrom and one of our coworkers said, "Man, she is not even making sense!" And then someone else yelled "Dude, but that's exactly what that crazy snowbilly nutbag actually said!!!"

Just like the real Sarah did, and then said something like, "You know, Obama"
It was hysterical!!!!!!! If you haven't seen it yet, you've got to! Can't wait to get home and watch it again. :-)
I started a thread earlier today that I'd heard rumors (and even from a few well-placed friends) that Sarah herself would be on SNL tonight. I wonder if she backed out, or if they're saving it for Weekend Update? I'm SO glad she didn't come on and ruin that skit!!

Oh, yeah, that's a real worry!
Several weeks ago, John Fund went on Bill Maher's show parroting the same right wing shit. He kept saying 'Keep it up. Keep it up, liberals. Keep making fun and the people will resent it, like they always do!" It's the last defense for the indefensible pick of a know-nothing for Vice President. NOT THIS TIME. And, indeed, the polls reflect it. Any bounce McCain got from the Palin pick is gone gone gone. And Palin's own popularity has evaporated into negative numbers. She's a national laughingstock. Bush never reached that status until well after Katrina. And tell me, obiden, would Bush be elected today? Would he? That's what you're dealing with with Palin. She's completely incoherent.
Moreover, it really should be conservatives who are most angry. We can all laugh that she merely reads a bunch of unconnected conservative talking points, but conservatives DO have an actual philosophical position, and it comes with tightly delineated concepts worked into a strong system. What Palin demonstrated is that she doesn't have the faintest idea about those concepts or that system. If I was a conservative listening to somebody butcher a philosophical system I took time to understand and believed in, I'd be insulted by this person simply spewing the TERMS without understanding the concepts. I even expect that a lot of conservatives ARE upset by this. Only the lying little disruptor trolls would still defend such nonsense, right?

I mean, the woman is comedy gold! And there's nothing to backfire against... Tina Fey used some of Palin's lines ver-f'n-batim!!!!!

46. For a not-stupid person, she certainly says some colossally stupid things. |
|
She had no idea what Gibson meant when he asked if she agreed with the Bush Doctrine.
She made claims in the Couric interview about McCain's senate record on the regulation/deregulation issue, and when asked to cite specific examples, she said, "I'll try to find ya some and bring 'em to ya."
These are not the statements of a not-stupid person who is merely "figuring out her surroundings." A smart person does not go into an extremely important interview and make claims she must know she can't support.

Overall the show sucked.
The only redeeming moments for me were the Palin skit and the Bill Clinton bit during Weekend Update.
The debate skit wasn't great, but it had a few humorous moments, like McCain suggesting pie eating contests and such, really emphasizing the way his campaign is just jumping from stunt to stunt.
