RW Nut Job's LTTE about upcoming election, and my response.

Demos beholden to myriad liberal groups

As we approach the election, the Democrats can depend on various support groups to help them in the election. These include the Iraq surrender activists, anti-military factions, the open borders crowd, the "living document" constitutionalists, same sex marriage enthusiasts, strident feminists, most of the vocal Hollywood "intellectuals," the pornography industry, the liberal-biased media, pro-abortion advocates/industry, welfare recipients, most atheists, those who are against prayer in school and want "In God we Trust" taken off our currency. Many are consumed with anger and hatred and are bent on destroying those who do not share their views. Witness their savage attacks on the governor of Alaska because she is a conservative, pro-life and a strong Christian.

The Russian author Dostoevsky is often credited with saying, "If there is no God, everything is permissible." For many liberal progressives everything is relative. Is there any wonder that so many children are born out of wedlock, our prisons are full, smut and filth flood the airwaves reaching into our homes, crime and corruption are rampant in our politics and institutions, and the school dropout rate is astronomical?

While all Democrats don't buy into all of these "progressive" agendas, they do not turn down their backing, money and votes. It would be very difficult to win an election without them. These entities will certainly demand their pound of flesh if the Demos win in November; especially if they win total control of both houses of Congress and the White House. Remember this when you fill out your ballot.

I restrained myself somewhat, as I am aiming for the narrow "undecided" independent voter.

Dear Editor:

Saturday's letter, 'Demos beholden to myriad liberal groups,' was masterful. I don't believe the author missed a single major right-wing talking point. When he claims that liberal groups are "consumed with anger and bent on destroying those who do not share their views," however, I am reminded of the bumper sticker which reads, "Hate is not a family value." Few people need to be told which side of the political spectrum this sentiment is directed towards.

With regard to the "pounds of flesh" that will supposedly be demanded of Democrats should they re-take the White House: A pound of flesh was demanded when they took control of both houses of Congress in 2006 -- namely, the impeachment of Dick Cheney and George W. Bush. Despite very vocal demands, phone calls, and petitions signed by hundreds of thousands of people, this never came to pass. Methinks the author is exaggerating the likely effect of putting the opposition party in charge. Listening to this person, in fact, you might get the impression that God will smite the country in exasperation and start from scratch if Democrats are allowed to win this November.

The simple fact is that Republicans had control of all three branches of government for six years and responded by digging the country into a deep hole, both economically and with respect to our standing in the world. It's only fair now to give Democrats an equal opportunity and see what they do with it.

I'll be sure and let y'all know if they publish it.
