Poll question: Palin likely remains on the ticket.
But even conservatives now seem to be rumbling about her, suggesting that McCain consider replacing her.

McCain bowed to the fundies in selecting Palin to begin with and in a replacement play would risk alienating them to the point where they'd stay home on election day.

That would be very sweet for us.

McCain could keep Palin, come what may (my prediction) or he could prove me dead wrong and toss her off the train.

In the latter case, who do you think would become his new nominee?

3. didn't vote, she won't be replaced. McCain can't afford to alienate the base any further
and he can't admit it was his mistake that put her on the ticket. She's here for the long haul.

My hope is that if Palin remains, the independents keep breaking for
Obama.

We've seen it happen in the reports of initial focus groups just between McCain and Obama after this first debate.

But I am hoping for a long-term trend of independents taking a very close look at Sarah Palin and then deciding that the country is better off as a whole under Obama/Biden than it would be under the vacuous Palin if McCain were to win and then become incapacitated.

4. Why not Mitt?
This is an economic crisis, he's got economic experience.

9. I wanted to advance the other names. Romney seemed like the
likely choice for McCain initially and he went with Palin instead.

I wonder also if Romney would take the job at this point. He's independently wealthy and then some and I'm guessing is salivating at the 2012 election already.

5. It'd be Lieberman or Romney. nt
Either way McCain would be screwed worse than by keeping Palin, so I don't think it'd happen.

6. The odds of Palin leaving the ticket are equal to the odds of Biden leaving the ticket. Won't Happen
But if she was hit by the Straight Talk Express tomorrow, Romney would replace her.

8. There's definitely a lot of enthusiasm for Palin on FR.
Replacing her would sandbag a lot of reps who hate McNovocaine and are only voting for Palin. I voted on your poll for Mike Huckabee because I think that made more sense as a ticket for the GOP and still don't understand why it didn't go that way.

11. I'd think that Romney would be the pick. The economy is front and center.
Romney seems to be the best of the pukes at taking about it. The problem for McFail is that Romney plays right back into Obama's argument that McDouche is on the side of corporations. Bloomberg would be a good choice, but I don't think that he'd run with McLoser.

TBH though, I don't think that McSame remains viable if he dumps Mooseburger. It raises too many serious questions about his judgement.
