1. So sad to see that happen!
I am so glad that DU was instructed by many NOT to talk about Palin.

Good move.

4. Nothing was wrong with talking about Palin here,
it was the obsession with everything Palin to the exclusion of talking about other things. I highly doubt that talk about Palin here at DU was responsible for her declining numbers. She, herself, was more responsible for that than anyone.

8. Yeah...I agree. Nothing was wrong about it.
The handwringing about the all of Palin threads was hilarious.

And as far as the impact that DU has on the political world, we will have to agree to disagree.

11. I think DU is mostly preaching to the choir and doesn't have too much impact
on the rest of the political world. Not handwringing, but I don't believe that Palin merited the amount of attention she got here when you would read very little about Joe Biden, our own VP candidate. Palin has brought herself down more than anything that was said here.

5. she did it to herself. In politics, you let opponents self-destruct and stand out of their way
so as not to get any of the debris on you.

2. You'd think the polls would show Obama with a much greater lead.
But I understand that's a different question in a lot of ways.

10. exactly
I agree with you and that is why I think the polls have been suspect. With the economy being the way it is, its place of importance on voters list of issues and Barack's good favorabilities, I think there is a possibility of a landslide. Alot can happen in 30 days but the momemtum is clearly, clearly in our favor.

3. The more people know her the less they like her.
It's the opposite with Obama, his favorability ratings are higher than in any time during the presidential campaign (even Rasmussen has them higher than McCain).

6. I think its better Joe's under the radar
People are familiar with him, but he's not a celebrity or over exposed at all.

9. And I think more will like him after the debate on Thurs.
I think people will be impressed with his knowledge but unlike John McTroll he will not be a condescending rude jerk.

I think just being able to say '36 years in the senate'
tells a lot of people he's instantly qualified.

Personally, I think you like Biden a lot more the less you hear about him. For such a smart guy he can be quite gaffe prone. Of course, compared to Palin, he's Lincoln.

14. Yup...

To a lot of folks, Biden is still an unknown.

He can be a lot of things, but he can also be quite charming.

7. Bidens is up higher too. Meanwhile, Palin's and McTroll's are tanking.
