McCains next distraction attempt: McCain camp prays for Palin wedding
From The Sunday TimesSeptember 28, 2008

The marriage of the vice-presidential candidate’s pregnant teenage daughter could lift a flagging campaignSarah Baxter in Washington

In an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new one — the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.

Inside John McCain’s campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. “It would be fantastic,” said a McCain insider. “You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.”

1. It's funny watching them leap from stunt to stunt.

2. So she's pressuring her kid to get married ASAP for political gain?
Can't wait. Something else to backfire on them.

4. That stunt would make Nixon's "Checkers speech" look like The Gettysburg Address

5. At this point, it looks like voters aren't buying what McCain is selling
And the M$M is pushing for him. If they do this wedding thing, chances are they're going to be desperate and down in the polls, that the cameras won't just be outside the church waiting for the "happy" couple to run through ice or moose turds or hockey pucks or whatever you throw at Alaskan weddings, but they're going to allow the media into the church for the ceremony. When they do that, there will be some people swayed by it because undoubtedly it will be the biggest, most expensive wedding Alaska has ever seen (something to rival Diana's marriage to Prince Charles, no doubt), but the vast majority of the people will see this as a crass political stunt of a politician using her kids to a despicable degree.

6. "It would shut down the race for a week"
Ya know... call me a conspiracy kook if you like, but these guys are trying to run out the clock with their little stunts, hoping to keep this thing close enough to steal. Both of their candidates drop in the polls any time they step in front of a camera, and the press has turned against them. They'd rather just stop right now and try for a repeat of Bush/Kerry on election day.

7. This could actually be very good for Obama. Let's face it, this isn't
a bunch of terribly sophisticated people involved. Picture stag parties and fist fights after a few too many brewskis. All kidding aside, that Levi kid should run like hell.
