Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 01:56 PM by chicagoexpat
Did it in the commercials of the TV talk shows -- it's easy! Most of them were just leaving a message on an answering machine.

DO IT, you geeky couch potatoes...

He ain't gonna win on his own, he needs us to help

I just went to

Obama-Biden home page

& the voter contact page

3. So Obama's phone-banking tool is back up? I used it during the primaries. Great piece of software!
I'll be using it as much as possible from now until 11/4.

You WILL see me around here less.

9. Did it yesterday - and they were extra special
because here in Iowa early voting has begun - so the calls I made were to people who have requested an absentee ballot. I got to ask if they had received their ballot and if they had filled them out and mailed them back in yet. It was GREAT! Only called through three pages of folks b/c almost everyone wanted to talk!! What can THEY do to make sure Obama/Biden make it in to the White House?? Get down to HQ or go on line and MAKE MORE CALLS!!! :hi:

Oh, and I got a call from Arizona - a woman who was volunteering from her home - making sure I would go volunteer :bounce:

How great a campaign!! :7

10. I have to admit...
and I probably speak for some people this board, I am sort of intimidated by making cold calls like this to people. What's it like?

12. It's not so scary. If someone's strongly for McPain/Phalin, you say thank you...

...and hang up, and move on to the next call. You want to chat with the leaners and undecideds, so you're supposed to dismiss the hardcores as quickly as you can. And you ask Obama supporters to volunteer. Plus, as chicago said, most of the calls on any one list are no-answers.

14. They give you a script -- and they DON'T expect you to know...
...all of Obama's policies and positions. The campaign tells you to listen to the voter, empathize with him/her, share your story, and direct him/her to more information. Wayyy easy.

11. Now I am feeling so guilty
that I'm going to make some calls too. Your efforts are appreciated, it's how were going to get Obama into the White House.

with their local Obama Office.

18. Pure fact. A political call -- one to one voter contact -- is like 100 times more effective...
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 04:51 PM by ClassWarrior
...than a TV impression or a direct mail piece.

We do it or we lose. It's that simple.

20. Then do something else. Get deputized through the campaign and set up a...
...voter registration table in a low-income area. Hand out literature at festivals and events. Volunteer to drive people to the polls on E-Day. Bake cookies for the volunteers at your local HQ. But do something.

21. I did this during the primary.
My husband would put the kids to bed and I would make 20 or so phone calls in about 1/2 hour. Adds up after a few days.
