The title certainly doesn't sound controversial. I don't think anyone would disagree that McZombie was very rude.

I can't believe they would be so blatant in their censorship...well, I can believe it, but I'm still not happy about it. It's not even available through wayback... I'm definitely going to write the suntimes.

12. This might help
In the below linked blog my Ebert on his recent article on Creationism he talks about the blogs policy on politics.

Link: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2008/09/this_is_the_dawning_of_the_age.html

But the purpose of this blog entry is not to discuss politics (a subject banned from the blog). Nor is it to discuss Creationism versus the theory of evolution (that way lurks an endless loop). It is to discuss the gradual decay of our sense of irony and instinct for satire, and our growing credulity.

Two GOP news articles "disappear' from web news sites
Sunday, 28 September 2008 16:46

Two articles critical of GOP candidates McCain and Palin appeared in online editions of the Chicago Sun-Times and FOX News respectively. Both articles linked to 'error' messages within minutes of their publication.

The headline of the first story to 'disappear' was EBERT: JOHN McCAIN'S BAD MANNERS. The CST error link can be found at http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/1190154,ebertmccain092808.article

The FOX News headline was CONSERVATIVES BEGIN QUESTIONING PALIN'S HEFT, and links to an error message at http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/28/conservatives-begin-questioning-palins-heft/

18. With a little more googling - I found the Fox story
LOL, on soc.culture.china

http://groups.google.com/group/soc.culture.china/browse_thread/thread/da503176236efa28

A growing number of Republicans are expressing concern about Sarah
Palin’s uneven - and sometimes downright awkward - performances in her
limited media appearances.

Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, a former Palin supporter, says
the vice presidential nominee should step aside. Kathryn Jean Lopez,
writing for the conservative National Review, says “that’s not a crazy
suggestion” and that “something’s gotta change.”

Tony Fabrizio, a GOP strategist, says Palin’s recent CBS appearance
isn’t disqualifying but is certainly alarming. “You can’t continue to
have interviews like that and not take on water.”

“I have not been blown away by the interviews from her, but at the
same time, I haven’t come away from them thinking she doesn’t know s-
t,” said Chris Lacivita, a GOP strategist. “But she ain’t Dick Cheney,
nor Joe Biden and definitely not Hillary Clinton.”

"......but at the
same time, I haven’t come away from them thinking she doesn’t know s-

I sure come away from them thinking she doesn't know anything. Chris, this doesn't reflect well on your intellect.

(or for *some* reason totally disappeared) for a few hours there. See this DU thread:

Guess who's not coming to dinner
BY ROGER EBERT / September 28, 2008

I do not like you, John McCain. My feeling has nothing to do with issues. It has to do with basic decency. During the debate, you refused to look Barack Obama in the eye. Indeed, you refused to look at him at all. Even when the two of you shook hands at the start, you used your eyes only to locate his hand, and then gazed past him as you shook it.

Obama is my guy. If you are rude to him, you are rude to me. If you came to dinner at my house and refused to look at or speak with one of my guests, that would be bad manners and I would be offended. Same thing if I went to your house. During the debate, you were America's guest.

=snip=

During the debate, Jim Lehrer repeatedly called upon both candidates to speak directly to each other. Obama looked at you. He addressed you as "John," which as a fellow senator is his privilege. His body language was open. You stared straight ahead, or at Lehrer, or into space. Your jaw was clenched. You had a tight little smile, or a grimace, or a little shake of your head.

=snip=

I'm not the only one who noticed your odd, hostile behavior pundits were wondering if you might explode in a display of your famous temper. I think we saw that happen, all right, but it was an implosion. I have instructed my wife to exclude you from any future dinner parties.
