Absent From Hill, Mccain Speaks to Sportsmen(via satellite)--He is hiding, WHY???

McCain addressed the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance via satellite last night after canceling his trip to Ohio to stay in D.C., where he said he would work on the bailout legislation in Congress. But he didn’t visit the Hill yesterday and did all his senatorial work on the legislation over the phone from his headquarters in Arlington, Va.

He is phoning his campaign in. His TownHall was canceled today, he didn't meet the Sportsmen in Ohio, AND he didn't even go to the Hill. Why is he hiding out????

This whole thing was to sidestep the revelations on Wednesday of Davis being paid by McCain through the Firm he said the day before Davis was no longer part of and the SEC filings that reveled Davis still worked for the firm as treasurer.

IN addition now taht it is revealed that they were actually paying Davis through the firm that means past FEC filings were falsified because McCain claimed Davis was not taking any payroll to comply with conflict of interest rulings.

It just hadn't caughht fire and they are hoping that by sidestepping it for a few days it ill just be forgotten.

But TPM and others are hot on the trail.

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. McCain would not be canceling Townhalls if they were effective at bringing in new votes for him. I have a suspicion that his internals are showing that his base shrinks when he makes a personal appearance. Both he and his running mate will hide from the electorate to the degree possible, from now until November ... and then they will disappear from the political landscape.
