"Impossible to know" if McCain will be in DC for bailout vote
Amie Parnes just reported this jaw-dropper.

John McCain's top economic adviser reiterated his conceptual support for the bailout to reporters -- but a spokesman told Politico he's not sure the Arizona senator will actually be on hand for the vote, which now seems likely to come Wednesday:

On a conference call with reporters on Sunday, Douglas Holtz-Eakin said Sunday that McCain staff members are “looking at the proposal.”

“We have every expectation that the House will be able to move quickly,” Holtz-Eakin said. “The senator’s goal all along was to put in place a process that would address the problem and respect the American taxpayers’ dollars.”

Asked if McCain would return to Washington for the vote, “It’s impossible to know until the vote has been announced,” Tucker Bounds, a McCain spokesman, told Politico.
sorry if dupe

3. Not showing up to vote will look worse than a Yes or a No.
But you know what? I don't really think McCain gives much of a shit either way. I think he's stopped caring.

6. So after his grandstanding BS last week, having to rush to DC, 'suspend' his campaign,
and threaten to cancel his debate appearance, he's not even going to show up to vote? Priceless. :eyes:

9. There are lots of things that are "impossible to know".
Most of them have to do with the beginning of time, the existence or lack thereof of a supreme entity and things like that. I don't think that the question of whether or not John McCain will be in DC for a vote on a bill qualifies to be among that lofty company.

15. If he doesn't vote, that's better for us than if he votes no
Best of all is if he doesn't vote. Then he can say nothing bad about the Dems about it, and he looks indecisive on top of it.
Next best is that he votes yes.
Worst for us is if he shows up and votes no.

16. Obama has said if his vote wasn't needed, he'd continue campaign
rather than return to Washington for the vote. McCain is looking to see if he can use whatever Obama does to discredit him. "I couldn't vote for it in that form .. the Democrats screwed it up" or "I accepted my responsibility and went to cast my vote for America while Obama engaged in partisan political activities." AGAIN, this guy is rolling the dice looking to get what he can for himself out of the situation. So much for not inserting partisan politics... Crap-ass old fart.

But he's down, so he needs to reap big returns.
