Passage Of Senate Version Of Bailout Bill Helping McSame |
|
He's been harping on earmarks and the Senate didn't do our guy any favors by slapping on billions in earmarks on their version of the bailout bill. I'm still optimistic, but am worried earmarks will get more traction with this.

1. McCain HAS asked for earmarks before. It's not like he's an Earmark Virgin |

but he voted for this bill. I don't think he'll be mentioning the earmarks too much because he voted for it. If he voted NO he could have claimed Maverick and blamed the earmarks. Matter of fact it would have passed without his vote. I am surprised he didn't vote NO and take that angle.

3. But McCain voted FOR it. Besides, I think it's a little early to tell if it's helping him in any... |
|
... way.
There mere fact that we're even TALKING bailout not only hurts him, but has probably sunk him once and for all.

7. this bill effectively killed McCain's "earmark" message, so what does he have left? |
|
"The Surge" worked....been there, done that.
"Win in Iraq"........ditto.

9. Where was his pen to strike down all the pork? |
|
He voted for it.
And FYI, the pork was added to garner Republican support for the bill.

10. He is running on a platform of "no earmarks" and "no pork"... |
|
And yet, he just voted for this bill which was loaded up with crap. I would have been more worried if he voted against it and was all over the media bragging about making a stand against pork, etc. Repukes and Dems all voted for the bill in the majority. No one can complain about something that they voted on. Only those who voted against it will be able to take that stand.

11. Senator McCain... when was the last time you voted for a bill that contained earmarks? |
|
"Uuummm... that would have been yesterday."
Right. So let's drop this 'I'm against earmarks' bullshit and talk about some real issues, shall we?
