let's be clear: vp palin would take over the senate
the one hint of any substantive plan, the one bit of insight into what she would actually do as vice-president, was positively nuclear in scope.

her thanking cheney for laying the foundations of vice-presidential control over the senate was a very scary statement. that's NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that she meant that, if elected, she would be trying to use the "presides over the senate" phrase in the constitution as an excuse to run the show.

historically, that's never been anything more than a ceremonial role, and the only real role is to get the 101st vote, to break a tie. but there's no way to read her statement as anything other than jamming a crowbar in there and trying to pry things wide open for the executive branch. i'm sure they're ready with gonzales-esque dissertations on how "presides over" must mean that the vice-president determines the rules of order and controls the agenda and calls the votes and completely runs the show.

these people are SCARY!

1. Rachel Maddow brought this up in the post-debate rap. Yes, Obama/Biden need to
make an ad out of this. This is NOT OK!

7. This reminds me of a dirty joke I heard once of an ant who wanted to hump an elephant
I won't repeat it, out of respect for this august occasion, but in the joke, much like in Governor Palin's delusional world, the ant was entirely unequal to the task.
