Debate, The Morning After: World, Meet Sarah Pavlov
Last night, while being very proud of Biden and the fantastic job I thought he did, I was somewhat disappointed
that Palin didn't have any Couric-type moments, didn't fall, didn't have a piece of spinach on her teeth or
say, "In what respect, Gwen?" even once.

Today, I'm happier as I realize the enormity of the stunt that the Repugs are trying to put over on the country.
Because that's what last night was - nothing more than a stunt, a ploy, a well-performed act intended to trick voters into thinking
that Palin has a brain that can function in any productive way other than memorizing 90-second sound bytes and spitting them out on cue.
Congratulations, Sarah Pavlov.

This morning, thinking back to the debate, I can hear Biden's voice, his honest and informed answers where he starts to speak and
then thinks of another point and interrupts himself to include that thought, too - as we all do in any given conversation.

Palin? Memorized, pat answers, spewed in a fast-paced robotic fashion - whether they answered the moderator's question or not.
(Most often, not.)

Didn't matter. She had to recite every index card during those 90 minutes, come hell or high water, and gosh-darn-it-all,
she sure as shootin' did! Only thing is - we don't know a thing more about her now than we did before the debate, except that she's
good at memorization.

Which underscores and highlights, in the brightest yellow imaginable, that John McCain and the Republicans KNOW that Sarah
Palin is NOT-NOT-REPEAT-NOT fit to be Vice President (and certainly not President) and must be kept, at all costs, from revealing
her ignorance to the world at large in any kind of unscripted, unrehearsed situation, including the one and only VP debate.

If they thought she was an acceptable and viable candidate, would they not have patted her on the back and sent her onto the stage
with confidence and a wave?

So, in effect, all you really need to know about how viable Palin is as a candidate is what the Republicans themselves think of her.
And then take it from there...

1. She's a cartoon character with her folksy jargon and winking
"doggone it", "Joe Sixpack", "hockey Mom", "shout out".

I thought I was watching a bad movie (except for Joe of course). It's outrageous to think this woman could possibly be speaking with foreign dignitaries - representing us.

3. Hmm, sort of reminds me of the "Bring 'em on" and "Dead or alive" comments someone else
has made. Real folksy-like, too...

2. Great description of how I saw Sitcom Sarah's performance too.
By contrast, Joe was brilliantly calm and knowledgeable. He showed his dedication to public service and to Barack Obama. He used all the TV time he got to promote Obama's policies and precisely criticize the Bush administration and link McCain effectively to that dismal record.

Sitcom Sarah's "oh golly don't point yer fingers backward" retorts to that fell flat.

Sitcom Sarah is a true Republican who lies like a trooper. (And lies about Troopergate, coincidentally.)

5. Yeah. And when Biden said, "The past is prologue," I'm sure Palin had no idea what he
was talking about.

8. And just what have you got against perfectly adorable characters out of a Readers Digest article?
I mean, besides her bible-inspired death wish for the universe?

I'm so spittin' mad that I'm recommending and kickin' this thread just so people can see exactly how mean and negative you liberals are. It's so doggone sad.

11. You are so sweet!
:loveya: :loveya:

John McCain's economy made it impossible for me to have an internet connection, But Palin is so nice and doggone button-cute that I hardly mind one little bit at all!

So I guess you're not voting for Palin for president? You should, ya' knooow. She's a woman just like yoou! And heck, but, what will happen to soccer and hockey for kids if we don't vote for her? Think of the children!

13. The "Joe Sixpacks and Hockey Moms" thing made me throw up a little...
...but not as much as the part where, in her best Police Chief Marge Gunderson voice, told Biden, "Ohhhhh, dontcha know that because I'm a MAVERICK and not a "Washington Insider" like SOME people, I just can't think that way, because I'm one of the REGULAR people, blah blah blah blah..."

I read a Web article recently that claims Palin's house cost four times the average of every other home in her town. Yeah, she's "real folks."

18. She was reciting because she has no real reasoning skills or body of knowledge, so the answers
must be pre-determined for her and then, robotically, she can regurgitate them at will.
