What is abso - fucking - lutely amazing to me is.... |
|
...how supposedly intelligent human beings can watch the Biden/Pornstar debate and give America's Little Tweaker any kind of deference. CNN's analysts must live in an alternate universe. VP debate scorecard link: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/02/vp.debate.reportcard/index.html

5. The CNN points system is simple... Opportunities taken (+) versus Opportunities lost (-). |

It's not about telling the truth or proving you're a better candidate. It's only about using your allotted time to create a resonant message for your target audience.

6. But see that's why in the SNL debate skit today ...... |
|
Ifill (played by Queen Latifah) says at the opening of the debate, "Due to the historically low expectations for Gov. Palin, were she simply to do an adequate job tonight, at no point cry, faint, run out of the building or vomit, you should consider the debate a tie."
First, the media is so beholden to corporate interests that they're no longer media.
Second, the media feel a compulsion present 2 sides always, even if one side is wrong and the other one right, or even if there is only one side. I expect any day now for the media to present the point of view of a child victim and the point of view of the pedophile, since the media consistently presents bullshit in the name of having two sides even if 2 sides do not exist. They just cannot say, "THIS IS THE TRUTH" and be done with it. They have to present two sides as if they were both true. To the media, the truth is true, and the lie is true, and both have equal importance. No longer do they investigate and present things truthfully.
Lastly, the Repukes have had a stranglehold on the media for 30 years. That stranglehold hopefully will fizzle out one day but it's still there right now. They are TERRIFIED of presenting the truth if it reflects Repukes in a bad light. (And we know everything that is true presents them in a bad light).

About 1/3 of the population is pretty much hard-wired to support anything with an "R" after its name.
Also, in an almost subconscious way, Palin is more like a reality show contestant than a traditional politician. Americans do like their reality TV.
