''He told me it was worse than being in Hanoi.''
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 10:20 PM by A-Schwarzenegger
McCain to his lawyer on the Keating 5 scandal, circa 1989,
emphasizing the attack on his personal integrity.

McCain has since claimed that the attack on his integrity
in the Keating 5 scandal wasnt that bad, but I wonder if this
is going to be the button that sends him over the raging edge
that he's always flirting with with such jaw-grinding intensity.
John, you asked for it.

1. Just the name "Keating 5" got McCain's goat:
"... the Keating Five, the sobriquet Mr. McCain always hated because it did not differentiate among their different levels of involvement..."

...

Asked why he did not get out of politics after the Keating mess and why he decided to run for president knowing that the ethics investigation would be dredged up again, Mr. McCain replied with a joke.

"I don't know," he said. "Several sharp blows to the head when in prison accounts for it."

Then, turning serious, he added: "It's something I'll be judged on. My hope is that it will be judged in the context of all of my legislative career as opposed to as an isolated thing."

5. Sounds good to me...
Obama casually attacks him on it during the debate, McCain blows a gasket, yells an obscenity (such as the n word)...campaign over.

6. Anybody know what his "exploding in anger" specifically refers to here:
After initially exploding in anger at a few Arizona reporters and columnists, he held a 70-minute news conference and promised to answer any questions about the Keating affair.

7. McCain has NO personal integrity. I have been reading
about his experiences as a young man, as a naval officer, as an aviator and as a captive, and McC ain is lying about all of it. He has very little to be proud of, so he lies about what he actually did, and conceals the truth.

McCain made several broadcasts for the enemy while he was a prisoner, and gave up information on flight routes that caused a large increase in the number of US planes shot down over North Vietnamese targets.

He is a spoiled little pig of a man and does not deserve the job he has now, much less to be president.

8. Back to the cell, Grampy
You are royally fucked, and you did it to yourself again, just like 20 years ago.

10 bucks he completely melts down if this comes up at the debate - I mean leading him off stage while he's still screaming meltdown.
