Game. Set. Match. McCain just lost FL with this boneheaded move
McCain's chief economic advisor came out saying that McCain would cut 1.5 trillion in Medicaid/Medicare funding over 10 years. Brilliant move, asshole, scare the bejeezus out of retirees and millions of others. thanks.

John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.

The Republican presidential nominee has said little about the proposed cuts, but they are needed to keep his health-care plan "budget neutral," as he has promised. The McCain campaign hasn't given a specific figure for the cuts, but didn't dispute the analysts' estimate.

In the months since Sen. McCain introduced his health plan, statements made by his campaign have implied that the new tax credits he is proposing to help Americans buy health insurance would be paid for with other tax increases.

But Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Sen. McCain's senior policy adviser, said Sunday that the campaign has always planned to fund the tax credits, in part, with savings from Medicare and Medicaid. Those government health-care programs serve seniors, poor families and the disabled. Medicare spending for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30 is estimated at $457.5 billion.

11. This is devastating! People need to wake the *F* up.
By the time Mccain is finished raping and pillaging the remaining social programs we have left, EVERYone will be affected not just the seniors and disabled.

This maniac psychotic freak wanted to privatize Social Security, Bushie has already begun waging a war on Medicare prescription drug plans as it is - Mccain will be sure to polish off Medicare and Medicaid.

Only the wealthy will have health care.

Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 10:26 AM by nannah
to pad the pockets of the health insurance industry and the fortunate.

people who can afford to pay for health care and insurance are rewarded for their affluence and comfort by receiving tax credits that take away dollars for medical care and bare survival needs for the elderly and disabled.

edited for clarity

31. oops, i edited out diabolical because i thought it was too exteme
i should have followed my first instict! it is diabolical. And it is consistent with the cruelty inherent in the decisions of the bush administration.

funny, i work in a "welfare office". I see guys like gw and mccain alot; only the ones i see are the ones who didn't have rich powerful dads. they are the guys who cruelly mistreat others, float in and out of jail, gather wounds from ill thought out assaults, and try to get federal dollars for their disability of being without consciences.

14. Wait for it-

Palin is publicly and LOUDLY questioning McCains choices in the campaign. After how tight a leash she's been on, do you really think that's an accident?

I'm betting they know this year is a wash, and they have to start focusing on 2012. Be ready for the next round of "concern" from Palin in the following 24-48 hours.

She'll barely be able to stay in local politics after this is over. And it seems that something will come of Troopergate since that one witness flipped under oath. I don't think the party will care about her after they've used her up for this stunt.

25. SZZZZZZZAP!!! (Sound of McCain Touching the Third Rail in Politics -- Medicare)...
Any Political Strategist worth their salt knows that any mention of Medicare in a Campaign better be followed with an assurance that the candidate will protect it.

Otherwise, potential voters locked into this issue literally drop out right before their eyes.

Just shows how out of touch they are running the McCain Titanic.

Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 11:16 AM by DainBramaged
"McCain pulls campaign out of Florida, virtually assuring Obama of victory."

In an open revolt against the McCain/Palin campaign, Senior citizens in Florida vowed not to vote for the 'mavawrecks' who want to reduce their Medicaid/Medicare therefore cutting further into their limited incomes. "That's some howdoyoudo" said Mrs. Alice Frumpkin "Couldn't retire till I was 70 because of these idiots in Washington, and now this rich jerk wants to cut MY health benefits? No way, I'm voting for that nice young Black fella now".

The only age group where McCain had a consistent lead was 60+, and that lead was already shrinking fast. So he comes out with "I'm cutting your medicare"? What. The. Fuck.

I mean, "they're trying to lose" has been a joke for a few weeks, but really? He's gonna drive that final nail into his own coffin? Is he really trying to lose?
