So----I just got home from protesting the McCain-Palin rally. What was yelled at us:
"Get a job!"
"Go back to Russia! (one was "Cuba!")
"Democrats and Liberals hate Free Speech!" (WTH?!)
"I'm not voting for a Muslim!"
"Obama supports terrorists!"
"Get a brain! Vote McCain!"
"Communists!" "Socialists!"
"Here's some change; how much do you want?" Accompanied by an out-stretched hand. I always shouted to them to give me their quarters, but they never did. Heh.

Meanwhile, the guy next to me, with the 2 "Eight is Enough" signs, kept cracking me up. He'd chant, "ATTICA! ATTICA!" Bwah! Or, "Come on over; it's not too late!"

My sign said, "EPIC FAIL".

There about 6 "Nader" young men near me, as well.

And Dana Milbank walked around with a sign reading, "I need a hug," so we all hugged him!

Thank God, they brought her out when they did as it gave everyone a chance to see through her. Her ratings are dropping every day.

Here it is for those of you who may have missed it yesterday; he exposes the Palin crowds for what they are.

47. Alright, I hear you..........
it just seemed totally bizarre to hear a WP reporter carrying around a sign at a protest.

Maybe he's hoping it will prevent one those crazed Palinbots from shooting him or something.

Sorry, just worked in the biz before and sounded weird. I'm convinced now and maybe I'll get a chance to see it in person if he comes to their thing in VA on Monday because I plan on going to protest too.

Olbermann was going to ask him about it. All of a sudden he's hired by CNN and apparently a lot of people at NBC were taken by surprise because they didn't even know he was leaving.

54. Here's why he was carrying the sign, IMO -- the Repugs have been whipping up the crowds into an
anti-press frenzy as well as a racist frenzy. Milbank wrote an article a day or two back (linked to above) which described this, including the detail that while the crowd was being verbally abusive toward the press, someone called a black media sound-man an "uppity ni**er" then told him to "sit down, boy".
So, he's riffing on the anti-press feeding frenzy.

11. Brave of you to go among the brainwashed zombies
the "get a job"! remark always cracks me up. Most of the Dems I know are among the hardest working people in this country; it's not unusual for us to put in 60-80 hour work weeks. The repugs I know, by comparison, hardly work at all and constantly whine that if "they" (women, blacks, hispanics, immigrants, the government, liberals...you name it) weren't in the way or making their lives unhappy THEN they would get a real job! Nobody projects like a deadbeat repug.

in college. When asked why they didn't join the military to show their support, they all had some stupid excuse like "I can serve better by staying in school". The name "f*cktard" just seems so appropriate for these guys.

Did you hear what was said, or have a guess?

Thanks!

why wouldn't we prefer to just let this wind up train wreck proceed to its natural course? And what are we protesting? Their right to hold a rally? I know there are things they stand for to protest, but the disturbing element that this interferes with their right to free speech and assembly makes me very uncomfortable.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 02:36 PM by WinkyDink
About 18 protesters holding signs and chanting "U.S.A" stood opposite the walkway were people were entering the arena.

Paul Pagoda, of Lower Saucon, walked a half mile to enter the protest line with two homemade signs saying "8 is enough."

Lilly Gioia of Easton, member of the Business of Professional Women of the Lehigh Valley, held a sign that said "Vote Democrat."

"Obama is committed to equal pay for women and McCain is not." Gioia said.
