Is the media really doing McCain any favors by airing his appearances?

I just saw in another post that the media is airing the town hall meeting and that it's a total mess.

If the media shows these rallys and shows John and Sarah and their supporters at their most unhinged doesn't that ultimately hurt McCain/Palin.

I remember when everyone thought the Gibson/Palin interview was going to be a puff piece and it ended up being an embarrasment for Palin.
