He has, at one event, tamped down the extremist racist/xenophobic hysteria and rage his campaign, his wife, and his running mate have spent countless days/weeks/months whipping up into a fervor!

:eyes:

* - considering that I had about ¼ an iota of respect for him yesterday, it still isn't much. ½ an iota.

5. More like GOP party elders told him to tone it down or risk a 60-seat Dem Senate majority
That's what Ed Rollins was saying last night on CNN which is why you saw retiring Congressmen like Re. LaHood (an IL kingpin
during the DeLay days) today, and no doubt many others behind the scenes, fretting about McCain's "tone" because it was/is
turning off everyone but the the Rabid Right, including those all-important independent swing voters as well as undecideds.

Maybe she listens to Limbaugh.

September 22:

"Do you know he has not one shred of African-American blood?" Limbaugh continued: "He's Arab.

the more of an association is created. These psy-ops are parsed to death within campaign circles, and I see nothing exculpatory about his response.

ETA case in point: A McCain surrogate's on Larry King right now who has worked the word "Arab" into his defense of McCain three times so far.

30. His actions are self-serving.
He knows the "Obama-pals-around-with-terrorists" strategy isn't working with anyone other than the crazies who attend his rallies so he is trying another.

I also think it is an attempt for him to weasel out of the promises he made to confront Obama in next week's debate. I don't think mccain has the stomach/heart to disparage Obama's character face to face.

47. Winning means nothing if you lose yourself and your self-respect.
McCain may well lose this election, but he will be remembered as being a leader who stood up to and called out the hatred and lies and defended the accused at the risk of losing it all. This is the John McCain of 2000 who should have won the primary instead of Bush. If we had to have a Republican president, McCain would have been a much better choice.
