I wish there were more Obama yard signs
There's pretty fair support for Obama here in semi-rural southwestern PA, but you'd never know it from the yard signs. In the last couple of weeks this area has sprouted hundreds, nay, thousands of McCain/Palin yard signs. Hardly any Obama signs. I see the McCain teams heading out of their office with armloads of signs. We can hardly get an Obama sign. This morning while I was turning in my canvass sheets, two people dropped by the office asking for signs. None today, maybe we'll have some on Monday.

I know Obama is putting his money into organizing rather than paraphernalia, but it's damn discouraging to live in a sea of McCain signs. The one down the street that says just "Sarah" especially makes me wince.

1. Try your state Dem Party.
I just purchased 50 from the ODP for $1 each to hand out in my neighborhood. (the campaign was requiring you to knock on 50 doors before getting one.) I was tired of seeing so few signs when I know the support was there.

2. It's the same here in Iowa...
...the local office is out of signs.

There are some Obama signs here, but more McCain signs are popping up.

Those signs are important!

I don't understand why they are running out, because I don't see a barage of Obama
signs. Maybe people are getting them and throwing them away? We know there has
been a rash of people stealing them, all across the country.

3. I still haven't received the signs and bumper stickers

I ordered from the Obama Store September 6th!
They are out of stock and back ordered.

Finally, I drove down to a local Democratic Party Headquarters
in Laguna Beach and bought some.

18. Same here, with other products . . .
. . . I ordered stickers, magnets, and a bracelet from the Obama site. Their status is "processing."

But I have to think all these backorders are a very good sign!

And when they get the signs, they go out fast. And I am sure the official Obama store has been swamped with orders.

5. Here is a link to a site where people can print their own signs:
I printed out a couple, put them in plastic, and push pinned them to a tree in my front yard. That might help some people show their support without waiting for official signs.

13. These sign are important because they inspire Obama supporter and demoralize those who back McCain.
They are also helpful in helping to sway those who are wavering when they see a neighbor who they like or respect display an Obama sign they view it as an endorsement, that this man is approved. This may be all the nudge they need.

But, damn, it's great to see so many Obama/Biden signs all over the place.

23. It's a NATIONAL backorder. I just ordered some of the rally signs, and I'm going to
put them on good backers and cover them with clear packaging tape to make my own. The rally signs are only $2.50 each. That's cheaper than the 8 bucks for a plastic sign and the wire holder.
Also, you can get unofficial ones at CafePress.com.

In the city of Washington (PA), it's a pretty positive reception. This morning, though, I canvassed in a fairly nice housing development a bit north of Washington and hit a bunch of McCain supporters. Lots of people wouldn't open the door even though you could tell they were home. Those I talked to were either McCain or undecided. Wall-to-wall McCain signs everywhere. That's what got me started on this thread--the sudden EXPLOSION of McCain signs we've seen lately. This morning was actually pretty discouraging.

Last weekend, though, I hit a couple that really made it all worthwhile. She was for Obama, he was unsure because he didn't think he liked the health insurance plan. Boy, did I fill him in. One converted. Those are the connections that make all the door knocks worthwhile.

I had made a contribution August 31 to be counted in the August tally and am just now getting my kit (a yard sign, magnet, 5 buttons, and a T-shirt). I was so happy when the mailman rang the doorbell! He was happy too when I told him what was in the box!

34. So let them win the yard sign war
It's all they will ever win.

I don't see any yard signs for McCrypt or Obama here; but the two individuals running for state rep in this district have started a real yard sign war. They are everywhere! The Repub does not identify his party. The Dem has a donkey on her sign!

I've been able to see how far the district extends by where these signs are.

Another thing I notice, what few signs there are for McPrick are put in places where many will see them - like at intersections and the like.

In the Lehigh Valley, our Obama offices recently received more yard signs. They go fast, however. I'd call periodically to your local office and check.

here in rural N. Central PA. They must have just come in because those signs weren't around two days ago :-). There is a state university twenty miles away (Clarion) and I saw more Obama signs in town than McCain signs.
