Grrrrrr. My SIL calls tonight to report that a friend went to a bar in Nokomis FL
where they were chanting C.H.A.N.G.E. "Change! Help A N****r Get Elected." Thank you Sarah Palin. Thank you John McCain. I hope you both burn in hell.

To top that off, I just came back from a meeting where someone I know asked another friend of mine to please not bring Obama (said with distain) up here after my friend asked if I canvassed for him today. This is a recovery group. The question was asked before the meeting. I had to get up from that table and take another seat.

I try really hard to just accept that people have other opinions. But the underlying hint of racism and hate is really getting to me. It's diseased, it is spreading like a flue and McCain & Palin are totally responsible for it. Bird Flue would be easier to deal with than this.

I want to follow Obama's plan of working together for the good of our country. I don't like drawing lines in the sand. But dammit, every god damn day another example of pure hatred gets in my face. I am dropping friends and acquaintences over it and it is a sad sad state of affairs for all of us.

1. The decision of the McCain/Palin campaign to turn this into a violent mob drew the line in the sand.

They did it. Not us.

And if your friend wants to ask you about Obama canvassing, she should go right ahead. If this other person doesn't like it, they can stop eavesdropping into your conversation.

2. It does seem to be bringing them out of the woodwork. At least you know
who your friends are now.

4. that kind of insanity just helps push all rational people deeper into our camp. I know it sucks but
there is always a backlash for it, even if it is not apparent immediately

6. Yeah.
My SIL's friend was shocked. He's non political. Never votes. She just became politically aware (somewhat). She's on his ass to register to vote now. She's very persuasive.

5. Let's just work on winning the election right now
Donate your time or money, or both.

Then we can think of some creative ways to spike the ball in the endzone.

7. Some people take recovery seriously and don't want any politics involved at all
until you know for sure you shouldn't assume racism. The twelve traditions are crystal clear in this regard.

11. I know that.
The person who asked me is a newcomer. I just don't think she should have been attacked like that. a simple explanation would have done it. The newcomer is also an Obama supporter. And trust me, the tone used saying Obama's name was very very clear.

9. It IS terribly sad, regarding the racism that's being
expressed about Obama. And I find it totally reprehensible that Palin and McCain are fomenting it. It shows their desperation.
