I gotta say it was a brilliant move on Obama's part to personally canvass neighborhoods today |
|
With all the that's been going down in and out of the repubs' campaign followed by McCain's ~demand~ that Obama condemn John Lewis for his denouncment of this hate and fear stoking, not only does Barack stays cool as a cucumber by not dignifying him with a response, but he also spends the day going door-to-door and neighborhood-to-neighborhood in Ohio (the scene of some of the more shocking crimes of bigotry) meeting voters and families face to face and spending quality time getting to know them around their homes.
Smart because of how he demonstrated in such a natural and personable setting how there are far many more good, engaged, and conscientious people in your everyday American setting, and because of how comfortable and poised he was in this setting, with lots of great photos to emphasize this authentic truth, and remind us of it. Ad to this how at home he so clearly was, and he brings home (in both senses of the phrase) the message that he and we will be neither intimidated nor condescended by either McCain's faux-ultimatum or the malignation that campaign has been trying to stir against him.
Every aspect of Obama's choosing to canvass this way today in particular is yet another proof of how proficient and sure-footed he is about what is needed to face the challenges before him and us, adroitly accentuating what the audacity of hope is truly about. I continue to be impressed by how thoughtfully and stragically he conducts this campaign on a daily basis. We're in good hands....

Sometimes it pays a much higher dividend to go house to house and meet and touch regular people, then to address a stadium full of people. The success of an endeavor like that is to spread good will like ripples outward to all their friends and relatives. I met Obama, he's a really nice guy, so down to earth., I can almost hear the phone conversations. He's not aloof or uppity like they say, he actually listened to me. That campaign doe's one smart thing after another and might win this thing, we can hope.
