Now, in order to preserve my cynicism stripes, I must point out that the election is still several weeks away and there's still time for Obama to be caught in bed with a dead girl or live boy but the atmosphere right now has me cautiosly optimistic.
The two most reliable meta-polling sites, FiveThirtyEight.com and Electoral-vote.com, both have Obama at around 350 electoral votes to McCain's roughly 180 (with about a dozen still too close to call). In my book, that qualifies as a landslide. The intellectual conservatives are deserting McCain in droves, Palin seems to be running her own 2012 campaign and I'm told that McCain's most optimistic internal polling has him losing by twelve (and that's the optimistic version).
Don't count the Rethugs out just yet (and I know that warning is unnecessary for most of us), we are winning but we have not yet won. For now though, things are looking rosy.

1. I think most people agree that McCain can't win by anything he does at this point... |
|
....he has to win by Obama screwing up.
And it ain't going to happen--my boy Barack comes through in the clutch!

The time to lose has passed. Obama is more photogenic than Sir(disrespect intended)raygoon.
Tip of the hat to Nancy for protecting him, else we may not have traveled this road.
