North Carolina's Alliance for Retired Americans to Endorse Obama

North Carolina members of the Alliance for Retired Americans will show their support for Barack Obama and Joe Biden on Tuesday in Raleigh.

The Alliance for Retired Americans is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of retired trade union members associated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. It was formerly known as the National Council for Senior Citizens.

Members say Obama’s position on Social Security in a time of economic anxiety won them over.

President of the ARA, George Kourpias, said members agree with Obama’s opposition to the privatization of Social Security.

According to the latest count, the ARA has more than 3.5 million members and has affiliates in 28 states.
