Powell's endorsement will help on many levels.

1. General Powell will be endorsing Barack Obama, this is good.

2. The right wing will then attack and discredit Powell like they did with Scotty, and everybody else they have smeared.This won't look good as it plays out on the national stage.

3. Certain right wing talking heads will take the bait and claim Powell endorsed Obama just "because they are both black" ..this will also look very bad, and give the story longer legs.

4. If the endorsement does unfold the way I layed out, then the republicans will be guilty of prolonging the story, eating up precious days before a tight election, at a time when dominating the news is the name of the game.

This rebound could run out some of the clock.
