BREAKING -- Condeleeza Rice (no public statement made)... but I have it on good order that ...
... even she is voting for Barack Obama!

I just received a call from a sister of mine and we began talking about early voting, and she just told me some shocking news. My sister attended a women's conference this week (hosted by Maria Shriver) where Condeleeza Rice spoke candidly of the presidential election and endorsed Barack Obama in one of the smaller breakout sessions.

Along with that, my sister tells me that Rice had this moment where she says that she hasn't forgotten where she came from, and recounted her days attending a segregated high school up until the 10th grade, and that she even praised Hillary Clinton calling her brilliant.

14,000 women (of all hues of the rainbow) attended this conference in Long Beach. I know my sister, and she's a staunch Dem. She would never lie about something like this.

Here's a link to the conference:

1. Um... I don't think Condoleeza Rice has the wide respect that Colin Powell does though.
Plus... she's still a member of the Bush administration right now. I'd prefer if she not come out and endorse Obama...

6. I don't know if this event happened, but I believe that she likes Barack.
She always speaks of him with admiration. Also, she was there for the 2000 campaign and I bet she knows better than most how much of a scumbag McCain is.

10. My view is that Condi Rice will vote for him but that it is largely private.
She is not going to say anything officially or publicly. Just quietly go vote for him.

In interviews she's been asked who she's voting for and she says "that's private."

So yeah, she's probably voting for Obama.

16. Her associations with Big Oil and the NSA might have a thing or two to say about that.
In other words, I doubt it. I don't think she will start now.

It was a minor miracle to see Colin turn over a new leaf.

19. She has generally had good things to say about Obama
and I wouldn't doubt that she's voting for him but without knowing what said, we can't really know that it was an "endorsement". I tend to think she would choose her words carefully and avoid anything that could be viewed as an endorsement. If it's true that Bush begged Colin Powell not to endorse Obama at the DNC, then you can imagine what he would say at the thought of a Rice endorsement... she wouldn't do it.

20. Rice isn't endorsing Palin...that's for sure...here's an article about the conference...
LONG BEACH, California (AFP) – US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday appeared guarded and avoided giving a full endorsement when asked to comment on Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081023/pl_afp/usvoterepublicansrice_081023013214

I don't believe Rice would ever publicly endorse Obama. Not giving her support to Palin, though, is very telling.

22. Rice belongs under Gitmo
and is one of the main masterminds of our completely fucked up foreign policy. She is as much to blame as Cheney and Rumsfield and probably more so in a substantive way than the shrub himself.

23. Maybe it's not my place to say.....
... but I honestly cant fathom how ANY African American can vote against Obama. I realize they all dont think as a unit and I guess it's in part the same way I voted for Obama instead of Hillary (since I am a white female) in the primaries.

But yeah ..... I dont get how anyone couldn't vote for him.

36. i totally agree.
But I am AA and I don't know anyone (even AA people who voted for Bush) who isn't voting for Obama and excited about it. My church is pretty much all black but had a good mix of republicans but this year it is ALL Obama even the pastor (though he won't say it on the pulpit of course). I don't doubt that Condoleeza is voting for him. I secretly think Michael Steel, with all the nasty thing he is still saying in public lately, will secretly pull the lever for Obama.

I was very happy about Powell, but Rice I think would bring negative press.

It's great if she votes for him, but I rather the media not find out.

26. Agreed.
Powell still has some influence and respect among the electorate. Rice is a Bush family creation; once Shrub leaves office, she's done on the national scene.

28. I'm sure Condi is well aware of this particular appearance of impropriety.
She may not be the most adept SoS we've ever had, but I'm pretty sure she knows not to broadcast that she voted for the other side's candidate while serving as SoS.

leaked out by now and been news.
