I have always wondered why people don't look things up? Long before the net made it easy, I would spend a lot of time the library searching for facts and figures if something sounded dubious to me.

As in so many other aspects of society, people prefer to just accept what they hear as "truth", never question the source, and then pass the "info", (usually embellished), on to the next individual/group.
