So after the election, I expect never to hear "Reagan Democrat" again? |
|
I hate that term. But "Obama Republican" has a nice ring to it.

2. Ugh - Reagan Democrats: The voters that handed us the past 30 years. |
|
Voting against their own best interests and robbing the rest of us in the process.

I will admit that Carter probably would've been fine for another term, although inflation was going crazy under him.
Clinton was a good president.
Gore probably would've been good... but he didn't have to lose that election... yes there was the FL thing, but he also alienated his own state and WV which he should've won.
Dukakis... dork
Mondale... dork
Kerry... listen to him... did you see him explain his depends joke on the Daily Show... the man has anti-charisma.
I'm really happy for Obama. I think the Dems have finally figured out how to play to the middle while they have the middle's attention. The question is whether they can do the things they need to do to keep their attention... specifically, will the correctly interpret their mandate (which I think has been a central failing of the Republican party particularly in the past 8 years).
I think Obama is going to be really good for this country.

There's going to be a small mob of political scientists pouring over election returns and conducting polls in an attempt to figure out how much of a political alignment shift was present in this election. Figuring out how Reagan Democrats voted will be a significant part of that.
