Rachel just showed the poll. They don't know who they voted for president
even after they voted.

2. Is this possibly referring to the vote switching problems?
I've been hearing reports that there's been problems in a few counties so it's possible that 6% just don't know because they don't even know if their votes registered correctly.

5. Florida is done on paper ballots that are scanned in. (kinda like the SAT answer sheet)
they are ashamed to say they voted for the white guy

16. Some of them may be
afraid to say they voted for the black guy. Especially if their conservonut and/or racist friends or family are within earshot.

23. My thought exactly. Very likely these are white voters afraid to say they voted for
a black candidate.

I'd venture that 5 of that 6% goes to Obama.

8. I've been phone banking for Obama all week...
There are about 5% of those who voted already (early voting) who won't say who they voted for. I'm assuming they're McCain voters, because if they were Obama supporters.. they'd be happy to tell the Obama phone banker about it, right?

9. Yes... these "won't say" types are surely McCain voters
Speaks volumes that they are ashamed of the vote they cast.

20. Not necessarily.
If their nutjob racist family or "friends" are with them, they might be literally AFRAID to say they voted (or will vote) for Obama.

After all its Florida and even has brain dead people that helped run Congress
and the national agenda at times.

22. Not necessarily
I run into types who say, "I'm not telling." And I am pretty sure it was Obama in at least one case, but he just didn't want to say.

But not "I forgot."

11. I Think They Just Won't Say
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 08:24 PM by The Shadow
It's funny but I was talking to several coworkers today about voting and was surprised that 3 of 5 of us still held the old fashioned belief that you never talk about who you vote for. Talking further to them, all 3 said that that was how they were raised and even their mother and father would not discuss who they each voted for. My grandparents were like that as well. I think that's where the 6% I don't knows come from.

12. Let me make this clear: PEOPLE EXIT POLLS AND DON'T WANT TO SAY WHO THEY VOTED FOR
So they say, "don't know."

Florida votes on paper ballots. We fill in a circle on a page like we were taking a test in high school. We use black pens to fill in the oval. There are no touch screens. There are no chads. See name, fill in oval next to name. That's it.

13. Won't say who they voted for...
is that surprising? I know my parents always said "Never discuss politics or religion", and they really had a thing about their vote being nobody's business.

24. I found this phone banking too
but it was mostly older folks who really take the privacy thing to heart. Manny of them were confirmed Obama supporters who refused to say who they voted for.

The other volunteers also noticed it with the absentee ballot crowd, many of whom are older.
