Should Obama go to Arizona now that he is only down by 4 there? Would show McCain is struggling
with his own state. The last thing McCain wants to do is play Defense on his home state a few days before the election. And even if McCain didn't go campaign in Arizona, the MSM would start talking about how things have closed in AZ.

Or would that look like Obama is piling on?

Thoughts?

5. Didn't Bush go to California or Hawaii the last week of the election in 04'?

Seems they were trying to do the same thing as the polls started showing it close or even Bush ahead in Hawaii. Make Kerry look like he was struggling with usually rock solid Blue states. In the end those two states ended up sold Kerry but the symbolism was what counted.

8. And thousands of pineapples suddenly died and fell off the trees.
And the lava froze.

And hula skirts withered and fell barren to the ground.

And their ukeleles were laid waste.

(The equivalent events occur wherever Shotgun Dick goes, from what I hear.)

12. Bush went to California in 2000.
It nearly cost him the election because, while he was doing that, Florida was slipping away.

Obama just needs to win. We don't need the symbolism of Arizona. Let's just make sure we win.

4. Horrible idea
At that point it would just be rubbing it in. Arizona is obviously not a battleground state. I would hate for Senator Obama to somehow end up losing this election based on something like a thousand or so votes in Colorado. He would be kicking himself for not spending 100% of the time in critical states instead of trying to show up McCain imo.

I've laughed at DUers suggesting Senator Obama should campaign in Alaska too this week. Another bad idea. Keep it to the states he's been in to ensure victory and don't try to get cute.

11. Why on earth should we be against running up the score?

What the hell, man?

Obama is 4 points back in Arizona.

If he held an event in Phoenix in front of 80,000 people.... it would A) set the narrative for the weekend and B) maybe move enough to make it too close to call.

Bush won Tennessee in 2000... and that was an embarrassment to Al Gore.

Embarrassing McCain should not be something we are worried about. He deserves to be embarrassed.

13. It think it's a cool idea, but you do have a point...
I like it because it would show that Obama is willing to fight for every vote. He'd never do it because he's proven to be very methodical and would prefer to play it safe in these final days. Going for the battleground states is far more important than making this sort of move.

It might make sense to send a Clinton out that way. No Obama or Biden though.

15. Yes. I thought that this morning.
He may not win Arizona, but it would get him a lot of press and make a clear statement about the state of McCain's campaign. I see it as something that would help to energize voters in other states and would create yet another positive news cycle for Obama.

18. Obama knows better then to seem like he's rubbing in the poll numbers
It could backfire. Let McFossil have Arizona. This is a great consolation prize after losing a chance at the presidency.

24. I'm not going to question Barack's strategy at this point
Whatever he does is the right thing to do, in my not so humble opinion.

I've complained about him doing some things and not doing other things. Barack jhas consistently demonstrated time and again I have no fucking clue what I'm talking about. He knows what the fuck he's doing and everything he's done has been the right thing so far.

So I'm just gonna chill the fuck out, because Barack's got this.
