"The polls are tightening"?

Rasmussen went from +3 to +5

Gallup LV2 went from +3 to +5

Zogby went from +5 to +7

But Fox went from +9 to +3, with shaky party weighting....... and everyone says "oh noes! It's getting tighter!"

It is not. RCP's average went from +5.8 to +6.1 in the past 24 hours.

This is all WITHOUT the effect of the 30-minute ad and the Clinton appearance in Florida.

5. Two possible reasons depending on your school of thought
1. The M$M needs to keep the polls tight to keep everyone tuned in through election. (Sensationalism)

2. We are told the race is close so when it is stolen, we all go OK, That's OK, it was tough race. (Conspiracy)

Take your pick.

6. That and why
does everyone always concentrate on the one poll that gets worse every day? A couple of days ago the Zogger was tight and everyone was all over it, today he says it's reversed and the nervous nellies around here aren't noticing. But my god the Faux News poll is all over the place because they post a POS poll that of course is "endorsed" by the RNC.

Focus on the battlegrounds and the State Polls. The national vote doesn't matter in this country, just ask Al Gore.

7. Each day with O relatively stable will make it impossible for Pushing Palin to close.
It is becoming a matter of simple math. In my mind, it is a done deal...but it is not stopping me for continuing to work for GOTV

8. Because ONE poll got worse. It's like I said, only the bad polls matter to some people.

9. We're saying it because WE'RE DOOOOOOOOMED
DOOOOOOMED I SAY!!!!!

One thing I've learned is that if Faux says we're doomed, we're DOOOOOMED!

13. They had been tightening Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday
McCain managed to pull his numbers up to where they were last month. He's gained ~30 electoral votes since last week, but my numbers are still projecting a 353 - 185 Obama victory.

Polls always tighten as the election nears, and generally in favor of the one lower in the polls; no big deal.

14. Here is how I do it......
Fox is just one poll. Averages of many polls taken in the same time period are better.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html

I threw out the lowest - one of the 3s - and the highest - the 15 and then did an everage: 5.5.

For a national average of 5.5 with 4 days of polling left, that is just about insurmountable.

15. Not true -- there's only one poll and it went down (Fox).
At least that's what it looks like on Drudge :)
