reverse bradley effect?
I've no doubt there will be some Bradley effect in the election, but I also wonder if there won't be a small "reverse Bradley effect" in some places -- places where people won't admit publicly to voting for a black (or muslim or arab or satan-worshipping or whatever) man, but secretly disagree with the peer pressure bigotry and believe Obama is the better choice.

Not to induce false hope, but it occurs to me that there are rabid-red wingnut pockets in America, and that there are people in them who are afraid to buck the social conservatism openly.

1. I think a reverse is likely, and I'm sure it's at least enough to cancel out any 'bradley' effect
even if it doesn't change the numbers statistically for the positive.

5. It's called the Rockefeller Effect.
No one would admit voting for Nelson as governor of New York because they were too embarrassed, but he always won.

6. Where I live (Louisiana)...
a reverse "Bradley Effect" is far more likely...I know several conservatives who are definitely voting Obama but would never admit it in public. That's not to suggest Obama will win a majority of white votes, or even come close, but I believe he'll pull a much higher percentage than polls are saying.

7. Example: My racist, repug father-in-law...
He's 75 years old, white, retired, served in uniform and lives in a rural area of Indiana.
He freely uses the "n word" and only watches black people on TV if they are playing sports.
He voted for Bush twice.

He's voting for Obama because he thinks "McCain is an idiot who will probably die soon and then we'll be stuck with that dumbass Palin!"

Of course he would never admit this to his friends, and he thinks they may also vote for Obama but are afraid to say it out loud.

I was floored, and very happy, to hear that he's voting for Obama.
