I am knocking on doors Monday and Tuesday....anyone did it?

What do you do? Make sure they are going to vote?

I am just amazed people need to be reminded to vote as late as Monday or Tuesday. Are some people that out of touch? Or just not motivated?

1. Just make sure they know where they need to go.

That's pretty much it. GOTV calls and doors are quick and easy; these people are most likely going to be ID'd Obama supporters. Of course, you'll have a script. :D

2. Right up til the end. People just forget sometimes!

I hear it all the time. "I was eating dinner and I turned on the TV and fell asleep. When I woke up it was too late!" or "I went swimming"

4. they will tell you-- there are different scripts for different points in the campaign

at this point they may just want literature drop rather than canvassing

5. I went today for the morning hours. My first time also, although

I'd been working the phones for the past few weeks. It was fun. They give you a list of potential supporters and it's a matter of passing out literature to those still undecides or leaving it for those not home. Had a couple of McCain voters but they were still nice about it. I'll be going out again on Monday evening. Just enjoy it - it's a blast to talk with fellow Obamites!!

6. You will be going to mostly friendly faces

Although in my experience the lists can be a little off (okay a lot off). You want to make sure they know where their polling place is, in some cases you can find out if they need a ride and just encourage them to vote. It's a lot of fun, even when you go to a nutball's house, you can smile the smile that comes with being ahead.

7. I DID IT!

You introduce yourself, "Hi! I'm Sarah with the Obama Campaign. Do you support Obama? Yes? GREAT! Have you voted? We're encouraging everyone to do early voting, to avoid any pitfalls or problems. Do you know your closest location? Do you need a ride? We can offer rides you know. Thank so much for your time, and here is a brochure that speaks about ... " Etc. etc. :-)
