Former North Carolina governor Jim Hunt thinks Barack Obama has a real chance to carry North Carolina in Tuesday's presidential election.

“I think we are going to do it,” Hunt said. “I think we are going to have a great day beginning Tuesday night.”

Hunt and fellow Democrats U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge, U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, N.C. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and N.C. Senate President Pro Tem Marc Basnight gathered at Parker's to rally support for Obama and his polices as the election nears. About 40 people were in attendance ...

3. Hunt would know. So Elaine Marshall was there?
I worked on her campaign the year she took office. She was up against Richard Petty. People didn't give us a chance due to his celebrity status but we outworked them.

4. I wish we hadn't had that 7-way primary in 02: Elaine could have easily beaten Liddy for the Senate
