My Repub brother is freaking out about his financial situation. Now mulling over voting for Obama. |
|
Never, ever, thought that would happen. My Dad has to go in a nursing home and that will pretty much take my parents nest egg. My brother always had these big ideas that he would be inheriting a lot of money from them.
Due to the downturn of the stock market, the downturn on Florida real estate and the cuts in medicare (60 days in a nursing home used to be covered by medicare and it was slashed to 20 days - thanks to the Republicans). So all of their voting for the Republican Party (except me who has voted Democratic and have gotten a lot of crap about it) has pretty much bitten my once-affluent family in the ass.
So if you see pigs flying past your windows - you know what happened.

1. Yep, money is the only thing that matters to them. |

Until they're hurting, the rest of the world can go to hell.

3. He's pretty out of it - he actually didn't think Obama was all that bad, however.. |
|
If he had the chance to vote I'm sure he voted Repub out of habit though.

6. Just noticing that the latest 'undecided voters' are actually Repugs |
|
who have been waiting for McCain to give them a reason to keep voting the party line. Those swing and undecided voters in are probably mulling over the same issues your brother is struggling with right now. If the person is at all logical, if they have children who they'd like to have a future, if they see the stock market slide whittling away at their inheritance or as in your dad's case, medical expenses draining away life savings, Sarah Palin's wardrobe is not going to be all that impressive. A long time acquaintance who has always been too conservative to associate with comfortably recently confessed that he is broken hearted about it, but he will be voting for Obama. Why? He was downsized after 9/11, has kids he wants to put through college and a 94-year-old mother-in-law who is living with them off and on between intervals in a nursing home. McCain is offering nothing. There will be a reverse Bradley effect this election. We can't take any more of McSame.
