(IN) Steelworkers urged to volunteer in campaign

United Steelworkers (USW) International President Leo Gerard has a nightmare, and he has a dream.

Waking up on Wednesday, Nov. 5, after a relaxing pre-election weekend in front of the tube or on the boat, and learning that Barack Obama has lost the presidency because he lost Indiana by, say, 526 votes.

And waking up, after a weekend of phone-banking or door-to-dooring, and learning that Obama has won the presidency because he won Indiana.

“If you’ve done everything you can do,” he told the membership of Local 6787 on Thursday at a get-out-the-vote rally at Duneland Falls, “and Barack wins Indiana by 36 votes — and Jill Long Thompson by 37 because she cast her own vote too — you’ll have changed the world” ...
