I just cried like a baby.
I haven't had a release like this since about 3 years AFTER my father died (when I was 18).

I've almost been WAITING for this release during this election season. The first time I teared up (in about 5 years) was during the Iowa victory speech.

Later, it was during the Presidential nomination acceptance speech.

Later still, it was re-watching the music video "Yes, We Can" with a more positive outlook (THIS CLOSE to what will hopefully be the end of our long, collective nightmare).

But tonight, I finally lost it. At the end of Bill Maher's show, he had John Legend at the piano playing a song (the name of which escapes me) that couldn't have been MORE beautiful, and couldn't summed up my feelings about this coming election more... (ok, I just looked it up... "If You're Out There"... apparently I missed it at the DNC somehow!).

Anyhow, I wasn't expecting this until election night. How fucking POWERFUL this movement is. It's amazes me daily. I can't WAIT FOR TUESDAY!!!

Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 05:05 AM by FrenchieCat
and I couldn't find it. Sounds like I missed a really good show. :(

And I know what you mean about the crying.....

2. I absolutely LOVE Professor Cornel West.
And John Legend as a panelist, and Michael Moore as a special guest. Not to mention Michael Moore on Countdown, along with JOHN CLEESE. Just an unbelievable night for television all in all. Now, to get my ass out and volunteering tomorrow (after work). We have an ARIZONA to win!!! :)

3. Same thing happened to me. The listings that showed for that channel were wrong. I turned it off,
but then went and turned it on a few minutes later and caught the show.

(The listing was still incorrect, but the show was on).
Sorry you missed it, Frenchie).

7. It was listed as Real Sports with Bryant Gumblel
on my Comcast box but I figured they mixed up Real Time with Real Sports. I was right. They replay it many times during the week, in fact it's on right now on one of the HBO channels. Also it's On Demand if you get that.

5. Legend's voice is a thing of beauty
I might have to look into getting some of his albums.

6. Legend's song is If You're Out There
If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late

We've been looking for a song to sing
Searched for a melody
Searched for someone to lead
We've been looking for the world to change
If you feel the same
Then go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now

No more broken promises
No more call to war
Unless it's love and peace that we're really fighting for
We can destroy hunger
We can conquer hate
Put down the arms and raise your voice
We're joining hands today

Oh I was looking for a song to sing
I searched for a leader
But the leader was me
We were looking for the world to change
We can be heroes
Just go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now

Oh now, now

If you're ready we can shake the world
Believe again
It starts within
We don't have to wait for destiny
We should be the change that we want to see

If you're out there
Ooooh
If you're out there
And you're ready now
Say it loud
Scream it out

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now

If you're out there
If you're out there
If you're out there

If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late

8. Absolutely beautiful and absolutely PERFECT.
That's usually not my style of music, but I'm going out today to buy me some John Legend. :)
