A question about "inactive voters" |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 05:10 AM by Syrinx
I have a couple of friends that are registered voters, but are listed as "inactive." Meaning they haven't voted in a long time. Both of them are for Obama, and really want to vote for him. And I want them to vote too.
Maybe this whole quest is for naught, as we are in Alabama, one of the "reddest" states. On the other hand, I'm envisioning a massive African-American turnout, and maybe a few of us white guys could put us over the top.
I've been beating them over the head about getting their registration in order for months, but for whatever reason, they have lagged.
What is the procedure that I should pursue with them?
I've checked their names through alabamavotes.gov, but it comes up blank. Is there anyway that I can get them eligible to vote? Both are registered, but, neither has voted in something like sixteen years.
Humbly asking for your guidance. :)

1. Maybe this link to the Alabama SOS will help. |
|
http://sos.alabama.gov/Elections/VoterReg.aspxIf they are "inactive" voters, then they need to re-register to vote. The problem is that the deadline to register to vote was about 7 days ago as the Alabama rules state that the deadline is 10 days before the general election.

3. You can't make people vote if they are too lazy to get their |
|
voting affairs in order. Only about 45% of the country actually votes

But these are a couple of guys that have been left cold by recent candidates. They are actually excited by Obama, but apparently can't vote now, because they haven't voted recently. I think that is wrong.
