I'm finding these last few days really tough
and I just wanted to say I'm so glad that all of you are here. Really grateful for the good people on DU. And no, I'm not asking anyone to talk me down. I do think Obama will win comfortably. It's just the xenophobia, the racism, the sheer balls out ugliness of the repukes are taking a toll on me. That and I totally don't trust them not to pull some awful last minute shit. It's hard to see any last minute bullshit working but it's still disturbing to me.

I've never been so emotionally invested in a campaign. It's not just the investment of time or money either. I honestly feel that no election in my lifetime has had so much hanging in the balance.

I am so looking forward to celebrating with all of you on Wednesday morning. So here's to a successful Nov 4th with fewer than expected election day problems, and a landslide win for Barack Obama.

Anything else is unthinkable.

1. Me too. Last night I wondered how Sen. Obama and his aides, helpers, experts all feel....
It's so worth it but the nervous tension drains every ounce of energy from your body!

4. Honestly, FC ,I feel like I'm wearing high heels that are gaving me
horrible blisters. I can't wait to kick them off. I will be so relieved when this is all over and Obama is the President-Elect.

I think we will win by a reasonable margin but I am not letting my guard down and it is wearing me thin.

WE ARE IN IT TO WIN IT!
YES WE CAN!
WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!

Physical distance only gives a feeling of disempowerment here... I feel a bit helpless to do more. I give money and help out Dems Abroad. Beyond that, I have to count on you guys!

Imagine if DU wasn't around. It wouldn't be half as fun to experience when times are good or half as comforting when the times are tough.

10. What encourages me is the preparations democrats have been taking for the unthinkable.

I'm a mess in the sense that I have not been fully able to enjoy Obama winning the primary or getting this far because of all this extra b.s. which has been thrown at him:

1) Muslim
2) Middle name used as an indictment against him
3) Had an African father
4) Went to church 5) Knew some people along the way who had done some bad things
6) Has more than 3 million people willing to donate to his campaign
7) Picked a wife and a VP who would challenge his assumptions

Did I forget any?

I think hoping for the best and preparing for the worst is prudent.

Is there a campaign office near your home? If you're not already a volunteer, you could drop by. It may really help to distract you from any anxiety or feelings of being worn out by the whole thing.

13. I spent 4 days last week in NH
I'm done now. I have family obligations this weekend. And Vermont is very, very safe for Obama- though I will be driving folks to the polls on Tuesday. And yeah, getting out there helped. I'll just have to tough it out.

15. We are in this together.
It would be difficult to believe that anyone isn't having the experience of mixed emotions. After the past 8 years (or 28 years, depending upon one's age), it could not be otherwise.
