It is hard to appreciate how much of the World has changed since 2004. There was no youtube in 2004. The "internet" is no longer that box in the corner of your bedroom. It is on your tv. It has replaced your tv programming. You can access real websites through your mobile.
The internet has allowed the World not just to watch your election, but to participate in it. That may be scary to some. The small steps of wider access to the World were scary enough for Republicans in 2004 to block access to the Bush campaign website in 2004.
Republicans however understand fear. Their 2004 campaign was a total vindication of fear over common sense. Where would we be now if Iraq had been under a transitional government of the United Nations and not an occupying force of UK and US troops?
How much better would the World economy have been if the US had a Cabinet that understood Economics? If the US Government had not placed itself in hock to the foreign banks (and mostly that of Communist China) for $1 trillion.
If Obama wins on Tuesday, America will regain international respect, pretty much immediately. As a nation AMerica will have dealt with its worse devils. An Obama victory will kill off the continual need to "go negative" in political campaigns. It will end the Rove playbook. It does not always work and may COST votes. His win fundamentally changes the issue of campaign reform. A political Party should be able to rely on small donations.
It allows people the World over to say with Pride that they know Americans, there will be no need to have to make excuses for their President.
If McCain wins. What is learnt? What changes?

1. McCain can't win. He simply can't. Our country would tear apart at the seams. |
|
Everything would change. There wouldn't be a country anymore. All the supporters and all the hopes. People simple wouldn't stand by it it were to happen a third time. I can't even imagine what would happen, but it would be like nothing we've ever seen before. Personally, I don't believe our country would or could recover.

2. McCain is NOT going to win...just SHUT THE FUCK UP |
|
We're in the middle of a fight here. We don't need philosophical speculation about the outcome. Basic fucking common sense.

4. Where on Earth did I say he would win? |
|
I raised a discussion on a discussion board about what happens if McCain does win.

8. I think he may beat the 400 |
|
but as with any election campaign -0 victory should never be taken for granted. Not against a Party that even now is engineering 4 hour (and more) queues to vote in Democratic areas.
My point was that an Obama victory puts an end to these tactics as they are no longer guaranteed to work. An Obama victory is not only good for America, it may actually help the GOP.
