Sounds like some of you folks are worried about Pennsylvania.
Why?

Obama is well ahead in the polls and Kerry won the state in 2004 by a larger margin than was predicted in the polling. (RCP average of +0.9, won by 2%)

The RCP average was dead-on in predicting Hillary's margin.

Obama has a huge ground-game advantage and Democrats now outnumber Republicans in the state by 1.2 million.

So what's the basis for all this concern?

I don't get it.

So yeah, fear not. He's got this.

Now I've got to get back to cleaning and go to work so I can canvass tomorrow. :hi:

11. Your optimistic post is noted.
I've noticed that people tend to pile on you for being "negative", so I wanted to be sure to highlight this positive post.

And, absolutely, GOBAMA!!

:hi:

2. There's no early voting in PA.
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 02:02 PM by Phoonzang
5 mile lines to vote. At least that's my reason for concern. Oh and Western PA.

6. I can't speak for Western PA, but I've never seen lines like that in Philly...
...and the weather is forecast to be in the upper 60's and sunny on election day.

Also, the paper ballots in Philly are ready, should machine troubles hit.

3. Some are allowing the McCain camp and the Freepers to psyche them out.
Don't let them do it. Look at the sources, people! I've even seen a couple posts where people are nervous that perhaps the Freepers possibly have some inside knowledge we don't. Um...think about that for a couple of seconds. The only inside knowledge they are privy to is how much crud is lining the walls of their colons.

4. Some DUers are suckers...they fall for GOP spin every time
The GOP spin machine revs up with "Look out...it's all about PA" and the DU suckers go into chicken-without-a-head mode, disbelieving every poll that shows Obama from well ahead to landslide ahead in PA. A good number of the Worry Brigade are just trolls, and obvious ones. The others are DUers, but generally gullible, scared, and stupid. It's unfortunate, but you will find a proportion of gullible, scared, and stupid in any group you enter into of reasonable size.

5. The Pa. "T" zone will go McCain;
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 02:27 PM by jedr
Needs to be out voted by the balance of the state.....It's not a sure thing. On Edit: Allegheny Co. will go Obama, the surrounding Counties will not. However the largest population is from Harrisburg and East. Philly and surrounding Counties will go Obama. Centre will go Obama (due to PSU). Even Murtha is having a rough time in his district. Murtha hit the nail one the head, many rural people are not going to vote for a black man. These people are brain washed and will vote against their own best interests every time. God, gays and guns are still big time here in rural Pa.

7. Yeah, it pretty much is a sure thing.
That's where that 1.2 million advantage in registrations comes in.

Kerry took the state with only 3 of 4 counties surrounding Philadelphia going blue. This year all 4 counties have Dem majorities according to registrations.

PA will vote Dem, but will those votes be recorded as such? That's the only lingering variable. But with Rendell at the helm, we should be safe.

It's all good. I promise.

9. I believe it
and am grateful for the registration drives - living in the northern part of the T - and canvassing and phone banking here has given me a warped perspective -
also having Palin living in PA just about freaks me out
but I have faith in the Obama campaign and in us - yes we can - yes we will

16. Though perhaps not as warped a perspective as living in Philly.
lol.

I had a physical reaction to the first McCain sign I saw out in the suburbs. There's one block in my neighborhood that has an Obama sign at almost every single house. Shit, one of the houses still proudly displays a "Women for Kerry" sign. My precinct had far more votes for Nader than Bush in 2004. :D

So God bless you for volunteering in areas where there is actually opposition!

8. The registration numbers paint a bleek picture for McCain
He would have to win over 20% of the Dem vote. Just don't see it happening

12. My wife and I have voted in every election in PA in the last 15 years.
We have NEVER waited in a line longer than maybe 6 people. Our area has very small voting districts, We plan to go pretty early in the day, but late enough to avoid any pre-work folks. We have been using the electronic machines for years now, with no problems at all.

You guys need to cut down on the caffine, set your clocks back and get some sleep. PA going republican is a McCain fantasy and CNN bullshit propaganda.

15. When was the last time PA went for a Republican? Reagan?
I think if VA is in play for Obama... there is no way PA is in play for McCain...

Obama has many paths to victory. Worry if you want, but the odds of a McCain win are very very low.
