Odd comment from a Repub friend of mine- RE the election. |
|
It made me go :wow:
You know, I don't think that the fundies realize how many people they are driving out of the party. I hope they keep self destructing, it's making big waves.
Friend and I are talking earlier, she couldn't bring herself to vote for McCain so she voted for Barr. Even though I would have rather had her vote Obama, at least it's one less vote for McLoonypants.
This is what she said to me. "At this point, I have a gut feeling Obama has this thing wrapped up. I just want him to do good job, I'm not hopefull but only an idiot would want him to fail right now. Success would help all of us even though it means we lose the whitehouse for eight or more years."
WHOA- She was a RABID repub in 2004 and 2006...
Someone...Cue the twighlight zone music. And Toto, we are most definately not in Kansas anymore.

2. She is right. Only a fool would want him to fail. I was hoping bUsh would |
|
do something right once in while. Instead - he totally fucked things up.
I would have liked to see him do something, anything right cause his fuck ups are messing me up right now.
But, if it were not for bUshes total wasting of our country O would have had a harder campaign against mcInsane. Not much, but somewhat.

Billo Hannity Rush What's left of the Republicans in both houses of Congress Roger Ailes Karl Rove
Clinton had it easy compared to what they're going to throw at Obama WHEN he becomes president.

All of those fools will still peddle their hate, that is for sure, but the Internet was in it's infancy during the Clinton years.
Clinton didn't have Keith, Rachel, DU, DKos, Air America and MoveOn........there is now an entire progressive army that will no longer allow any of these a-holes from dominating the national conversation.
Look what happened with JTP, the "B" self-slasher, etc.
It's going to be different this time.

10. I hope that you're right. I really do |
|
They have a really strong, well funded and entrenched media machine on their side and it will be energized. What will make a difference is when the middle class finally start to see real relief and progress again. Only then will those people and organizations that you mentioned no longer be seen as "far left" and "radical" no matter how they're portrayed by the Faux/Rove machine.
I'm not picking a fight here. I'm just thinking of all of the big screen TVs in public places I've seen in the last week that had FoxNews on.

5. should reagan admin get away with it? treason? |
|
the bush extravanganza started during reagan time- 1/2 of reagan's crimes still get no media airplay. And w/out all that bs (remember KAL 007 when a Korean airline 'strayed' 3 hundred miles off course over several hours into most dangerous airspace on earth before it blew up-the soviets failed to catch up to it, so nearby MIC agents forced to explode built-in device 5 minutes before KAL 007, with everybody aboard already gassed/dead, flew back into international airspace!) junyer bush would have been nailed just for his Harken Oil insider trade scam (junyer sold 800 thousand shares(?) of Harken Oil hours before SEC stopped all sales due to criminal investigation- and junyer finally became a millionaire)

3. A change is a comin'. I'm happy your friend didn't vote for McCain. She's showing... |
|
... some sense of awakening (sobering up?) Repubs are experiencing everywhere in the country. Too bad she couldn't bring herself to vote for Obama, but it's still good news she's not supporting McCain.
I have a similar story.
Although not a friend of mine, but the father of a friend of my son's, this man is a staunch Republican and has never voted for a Democrat in his life! I always questioned why because he's not wealthy (makes less than $36,000 a year), is divorced and a single parent and gets his health-care through his employer.
His son beams when he came to my house and told me the good news. His father not only voted for Obama but he's got Obama yard signs and a bumper sticker he put in the place of his old Bush/Cheney 04 one! He's talking to all his friends and colleagues that Obama is the answer. I mean, I was shocked!
Anyway, I think the fact that he's received a $15,000 dollar bill from the hospital this year had a lot to do with his decision but at least Obama has gotten his vote too. :bounce:

8. and on the fundy side, I think many are voting for McCain but really hope that Obama wins. |
|
I know a couple of people who did vote for McCain, but they don't seem happy about it. They're embarrassed by Palin and disappointed by McCain's behavior during the debates. They voted Republican over the abortion issue, but they seem to be very impressed with Obama and I think they secretly hope Obama wins.
